Christopher Gabel, J.D., L L.M.


Biography


Chris Gabel worked with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, Switzerland, from 2013 to 2014, where he participated in his LL.M. Clinic Project.  During  2014, he delivered a presentation to the United Nations Counsel on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) - “ Better Developing the Developing World: Regulations of Corporate Activities in Export Processing Zones from the International Environmental and Human Rights Perspectives.”   During his time at the United Nations he honed his international law acumen and prepared for his law practice in International Law.  Of note, Chris Gabel, was the first citizen of the United States of America to graduate from the  Institut de Hautes Études Internationales et du Dèveloppement, Genève, Switzerland, Executive LLM Program of International Law. While the program qualified him for all areas of international law he participated in the Energy, Environmental, and Natural Resources Law stream.


Prior to his work at the United Nations Chris Gabel clerked at Walch & Schurti Vaduz, Liechtenstein, during the summer of 2011. At Walch & Schurti he was immersed in Liechtenstein law under guidance of Dr. Ernst Walch, where he attended Liechtenstein court sessions. He also interned at Brown Sims, P.C. in Houston, Texas, and Pavlas & Brown LLP in Houston, Texas before attending South Texas College of Law in 2010.  In the fall of 2009, he was a Group Leader of Global Understanding Program University of St. Edwards in Austin, TX.  He facilitated students in complexity of water problems within Colombia, Mexico and United Arab Emirates  during the “Water for Life” workshops in collaboration with Charles Porter, a Texas water historian.
